Job Summary
We are seeking a part-time Martial Arts Instructor for the 2024-2025 school year. This position
plays a crucial role in the physical and character development of our students, fostering
discipline, respect, and a healthy lifestyle through the practice of martial arts. We prefer a
black belt in TaeKwonDo.
Responsibilities
● Teach self defense and sparring.
● Instruct students in the fundamentals of karate, including basic stances, strikes, kicks,
blocks, and forms (katas).
● Demonstrate proper techniques and provide feedback to students to help them
improve their skills.
● Introduce students to the philosophical aspects of martial arts, including concepts such
as respect, humility, perseverance, and self-discipline.
● Develop lesson plans that cater to different skill levels and abilities within the class.
● Incorporate physical conditioning exercises to enhance students' strength, flexibility,
and endurance.
● Ensure that sparring equipment is well-maintained and safe for use.
● Emphasize and enforce safety protocols to prevent injuries during training sessions.
● Instill discipline and respect for the martial arts traditions, including bowing, etiquette,
and adherence to rules.
Required Skills and Abilities:
● Stay current with developments in martial arts training and teaching techniques.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
● Hold a high-level black belt or instructor certification in karate or a related martial art.
● Demonstrated proficiency in karate techniques, forms, and sparring.
● Prior teaching experience is beneficial, especially in martial arts instruction.
● Experience working with high school students or similar age groups is an advantage.
● Hold valid first aid and CPR certifications to ensure the safety of students in case of
injuries or emergencies or be willing to obtain them.
● Maintain a high level of physical fitness and health to effectively demonstrate and
participate in karate training sessions.
Physical Requirements:
● Must be able to navigate school facilities and lead students to safety in case of an
emergency.
Salary Range:
● Based on experience and credentials ranges between $20 - $22 per hour.
