Instrumental Music

Instrumental Music at Seton gives students the opportunity to collaborate together and perform at the highest level while also growing as individuals. Our ensembles consistently receive Superior ratings at regional and national competitions throughout the country.

Our ensembles have received First prize overall for band and orchestra at competitions in South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and more! In addition, we have students who successfully audition for the All-State Band and Orchestra, the WAMTC Honor Band and receive Superior ratings at the Prince Georges County Solo and Ensemble Festival.

Honors students take private lessons throughout the year with DC's top professionals on their instruments, and are given new opportunities to challenge themselves and grow throughout the year, 50% of our students' private lesson cost is reimbursed through our parent-led Music Boosters fundraising efforts each year. Our top musicians also join Tri-M, a national Music and Service based Honor Society that supports Seton's music program, and provides musical outreach to nursing homes and elementary schools in our community.

Our band and orchestra teacher, Dr. Bradley Tatum, has taught at Seton for 7 years, and in Prince Georges County for 15 years. In addition to his accomplishments with the Seton Music program, he is a leading professional hornist in the DC area, performing regularly with groups such as the Apollo Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Washington Bach Consort, Washington Concert Opera and more.
