Joy and Service to Others
Over the past few weeks, our Roadrunners safely gathered, sorted and distributed food, gifts, toys, gift cards, and hygiene products in grand numbers across the region in the true spirit of our Vincentian Charism and service to others.
Our teams, clubs and community members were creative and undeterred in their approach to providing for those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic. Seton’s Volleyball team put together 100 care packages for the homeless including various hygiene items, food, water, bibles, masks and hand sanitizer. The Latinas Club wrote and distributed Christmas Cards written in English and Spanish for local community members. The Vincentian Service Club collected canned goods in collaboration with the John. S. Mulholland Family Foundation, which supports the work of food pantries at St. Thomas More, St. Luke, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Francis Xavier Churches in and Holy Name Church in Washington, DC. The Black Student Union collected toys in huge numbers to support the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Washington, DC, Christmas Toy Drive. Our Seton Scholars collected food and toys for local children in collaboration with Port Towns Elementary School and local Bladensburg Civic Leaders. In addition, bottled water was donated to local families in need by Fresh Direct in collaboration with Seton’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Program.
We thank our students, staff and families for their generosity and continued commitment to service and for maintaining, at all times, the light to know and grace to do.
