Class of 2019 Profile: Fatima V.
Recently, Fatima V. ‘19 spoke at Seton’s Latina Scholars dinner, to address the many advantages her Seton education has afforded her. “Coming from an immigrant family, it was always a dream for my family that I would have an opportunity for a better education. We knew this dream of ours was never going to be easy, but it was a dream worth fighting for. I came into this school with the mindset that I had to grow more as a woman of faith and most of all as a student leader.”
Fatima achieved her leadership goals while at Seton as a member of the Latinas Club and the Seton Theater Company. A high academic achiever and talented vocalist, she is also a part of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and National Honor Society, and attended Catholic University’s High School Honors Choir Program. Fatima also grew in her faith while at Seton and committed to serving those around her. She served as an Admission Ambassador and Eucharistic Minister and was a co-founder of the Rogers Heights Elementary School Music Club, a collaboration between Seton Tri-M honor students and Rogers Heights Elementary School students. In her closing remarks at the Scholars dinner, Fatima addressed staff, students, families and Board members, “As I come to the end of my high school career, I am proud to say that I am the first in my family to be going to college. I thank God for the many blessings He has given me. As I leave the halls of Seton, I know I am more than prepared for college and life because I will always carry with me the light to know grace to do.”
Fatima will attend The Catholic University of America in the fall with the intention of majoring in theology and theater production. Thank you, Fatima, for being such a wonderful ambassador for our school and community.
