Looking for something to do this summer? Do you wish you had more room in your schedule next year? Have you ever wished to take a class that has no homework? Well you're in luck! The Math Department is offering a summer Trigonometry class for original credit from June 16 – July 15, Monday to Friday, from 9am – 12:30pm. The cost is $415 per student. To be eligible for this class, you must have at least a B- in Algebra 2. Please see Mrs. Bogrash in Room 104 to sign-up.

Spring Athletic Awards Dinner is Wednesday, May 21 here at Seton. Dinner begins at 6:00 pm followed by the awards ceremony. Student Athletes eat free. All others over the age of 6, the cost is 10.00. Dinner tickets available in the athletic director's office.

SAT Express and ACT Express are sponsoring a Boot Camp to prepare for taking the tests.  Both camps will be held at the Greenbelt Holiday Inn.

SUMMER COMPUTER PROGRAMMING CLASS: The Dept. of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park, is sponsoring a Summer program, for middle and high school students interested in computer  science/computer  programming.  This program is offered at no cost to the student. Please visit the Seton technology department webpage for more details http://www.setonhs.org/academics/technology.html Application deadline is May 30th.

Children’s Hospital National Medical Center is looking for dynamic, creative, outgoing 16-18 year old youth to serve as peer educators in their education program called Teens Against the Spread of AIDS. Youth will be trained. Applications due May 31st. Contact Maranda Ward at mward@cnmc.org or call 202-476-5449. See Guidance for more details.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP BOWIE: Rising 10th and 11th graders who live in Bowie are encouraged to complete an application for this leadership development program. GPA, extra-curricular activities, and community service are some of the important qualities that are considered for selection. Bowie residence for this program is defined as 20715, 20716, 20720, 20721. Applications are due May 16 and are available in Guidance.

UNC Chapel Hill is sponsoring Project Uplift 2008.  This is an all expense paid trip for high achieving rising seniors to UNC Chapel Hill including meals, room and program materials.  The program is designed for students from under-served communities such as American Indians, African Americans, Hispanic/Latinos and Asian Americans.  Students must be nominated.  If interested see Ms. Cooke ASAP for details.

SUMMER PROGRAM: Interested in Exploring Engineering at University of Maryland CP Summer Program? Please see Ms. Jean Baker in Room 214 for an information sheet. You must be entering the 11th or 12th grade next school year. The cost of this program is $495.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: United Communities Against Poverty (UCAP) needs volunteers to help out with their after-school program for disadvantaged children. Many of these children need help with their reading skills. UCAP also needs volunteers for field trips and other various activities. See Ms. Brininstool for more information.

Volunteer Opportunity: The Whitman-Walker Clinic, an organization that provides health care services to those suffering from HIV/AIDS, is in need of volunteers to help with a large filing project. The organization is located in DC, and needs assistance after school and on Saturdays. Volunteers must be 16 years old and parental consent is required. Please see Ms. Brininstool for more information.

If any student is interested in applying for the Student Summer Program at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Please see Ms. Jean Baker in Room 214 for an application packet. You must be available to volunteer/work between June 23 to August 31. For more info see packet.

NHS will have tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in room 219.
