Visual Arts
The Visual Arts Department of Elizabeth Seton High School has two main objectives. First, we aim to provide high quality art instruction for all students, particularly those who are planning to major in art and pursue a career in the visual arts. Secondly, we place a great deal of emphasis on preparing all of our students to become well-rounded and creative adults.
We offer two levels of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture; additionally we offer Art History, Computer and Graphic Art, and the opportunity for serious students to take Advanced Studio courses. One of our most popular courses is Art Smart, a design course aimed at both the general student population as well as those students planning a career in fashion or interior design, architecture, graphic design, animation or fine arts.
Our faculty members are also professional artists working in their chosen specialities of Ceramics, Painting and Graphic Art. They are dedicated to teaching our students the technical skills needed to pursue a career in the arts. Faculty members enjoy providing students with guidance in portfolio development and career planning.
Several of our graduates have completed degrees from the nation's most prestigious art schools and many more are currently enrolled in programs at Maryland Institute College of Art, The University of the Arts, Virginia Commonwealth University, and The New School.
