Vocal Music
NEW!
Our 2010 Spring Choral Concert held on May 13th was a huge success! Please enjoy the clip to the right of our students singing a song titled, "Sisters," by Gwyneth Walker based on the poetry of Lucille Clifton. Congratulations to all of our vocal students for all of their amazing performances.

Welcome to the Choral Music Program of Elizabeth Seton High School! We are proud of the strong tradition of women's choral music at our school. We constantly strive to maintain high standards of musicianship.
Upcoming performances by our students include the mass in celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Daughters of Charity in Emmitsburg, MD, the annual awards ceremony for Children and Families of the National Transportation Safety Board, the annual All-Catholic High School Choral Festival in Washington, D.C., and a joint concert with the University of Maryland Women's Chorus and the Washington Women's Chorus which will be held at the University of Maryland.
The following are brief descriptions of the three vocal ensembles that Seton offers:
Concert Choir
Concert Choir is Seton's most select ensemble, made up of students who demonstrate outstanding vocal quality and musicianship. Auditions are offered by invitation to select students from Seton Chorale and Chorus. Its members are expected to work independently at a rapid, exacting pace. Audtions take place in February/March for the following academic year.
Seton Chorale
Seton Chorale is open by audition to students who display appropriate vocal quality, part-singing skills, and competence in basic sight-reading. While first preference is given to students with one year in ESHS Chorus, current students with comparable skills and incoming ninth graders with strong choral backgrounds and substantial vocal quality are also considered. Auditions take place in February/March for the following academic year.
ESHS Chorus
ESHS Chorus is open to all Seton students by registration. There is no tryout. Students in ESHS Chorus learn to develop their individual voices, to sing in two and three part harmony, and to understand the basics of music notation and solfege. Students in ESHS Chorus are given preference in the audition process for Seton Chorale and Concert Choir.
What Seton offers to its singers:
- Three choral ensembles for academic credit
- Reimbursement for half of the private voice lesson fees of any student who is enrolled in an academic choral ensemble
- Music scholarship grants for incoming ninth graders
- Brand new state-of-the-art choral room and practice rooms
- Opportunities to learn and grow as musicians
