Fine Arts

NEW!

Welcome to the Seton Fine Arts Magazine for 2010.  This collection of short stories, poetry, and photographs showcases the literary and photographic talent here at Seton.  We hope you enjoy the publication as much as we do.

Exciting Fine Arts News!

April 14, 2010

Two day-long bus trips and two whirlwind days in Atlanta, Georgia provided the Seton Music Program with bragging rights and a lot of trophies.  Seven Seton ensembles competed against groups from nine other schools in the Atlanta Heritage Festival, and were named the top school at the festival for a combined score of points awarded to choral and instrumental groups.  First-place awards in various categories went to Seton Chorale, Symphonic Band, and Chorus.  Concert Choir, with Seton's highest individual score, won an Adjudicator's Award and an invitation to compete in an elite Heritage Festival in 2011.  Out of all performers at the event (twenty-four ensembles from nine schools), the festival's only two outstanding individual performance awards were given to Cara Hamel '10 as the pianist for Seton choirs, and Gabriela Sotomayor '10 as a vocal soloist!

Congratulations to all of our girls as well as Instrumental Music Director Debora Hood and Vocal Music Director Dr. Kathleen Vadala for this truly amazing accomplishment!

Please follow the link below to read an exciting article by Dr. Vadala about the trip and our girls experience:

"So what's this music trip all about, anyway"

The music program at Elizabeth Seton is well-regarded in the area for its consistent excellence in vocal and instrumental performance.  With seven music groups, each a class in the school that counts for a fine arts credit, anyone interested in music can find her niche and improve her skills.  Unlike many elementary school programs, there are no extra tuition fees for taking band in high school.  In fact, Seton Music Boosters provides a 50% reimbursement program for students to take private lessons.  Performances in music festivals and concerts, including out-of-state festivals, occur regularly throughout the year.  The music programs is proud to offer the following programs:

Vocal

  • Chorus
  • Seton Chorale
  • Concert Choir

Instrumental

  • Beginning Brass
  • Concert Band
  • Symphonic Band
  • Orchestra
