Tuition, Scholarships & Financial Aid

Throughout its history, Elizabeth Seton High School has endeavored to keep tuition at an affordable rate.  Tuition for the 2009-2010 school year is $10,000.  Fees include a $310 registration fee. In addition, students need to purchase books and uniforms. New books average $300 per year; a used book sale is held in the summer. Uniforms cost approximately $300-400 when first purchased.  Some used uniform items are made available for purchase at a reduced cost.  Tuition rates for 2010-2011 are set in late February 2010.

Archdiocese of Washington Tuition Assistance
The Archdiocese of Washington has limited funds to distribute to qualified families who demonstrate financial need. To apply for aid from the Archdiocese, families must submit an application, fee, and copies of federal tax returns.

Forms to apply for Archdiocesan aid will be available in Mid-October at www.adw.org.  Please be aware of the deadline on this form as no financial aid will be awarded without this application being submitted by the deadline.

Elizabeth Seton Assistance
To apply for need-based assistance from Seton, families must first apply to the Archdiocese of Washington.  Copies of the completed Archdiocesan Aid Application (with copies of accompanying paperwork) should then be mailed to Elizabeth Seton. 

Families in need of financial assistance may apply for Seton's Work Scholarship Program. Work Scholarship participants are assigned on-campus jobs before and after school. In exchange for their services, students earn a stipend that is credited toward tuition.  Work scholarship applications will be made available to accepted students at registration in March 2010.

Seton's Scholars Program
Elizabeth Seton recognizes outstanding academic achievement by enrolling 25 incoming freshmen into the Scholars Program. Students are enrolled in honors courses and receive a monetary scholarship that is credited toward tuition. Students maintaining the required grade point average receive tuition stipends during each subsequent year. Annual academic scholarships range from $500-$1,250.

In order to be considered for the Scholars Program, students must apply to Seton prior to December 7th and demonstrate excellence in academics. Qualified students will be invited to take a scholarship exam in January and will be interviewed. Scholars are chosen for the program based on overall academic achievement, standardized testing, teacher recommendations, essay responses, attendance record, leadership qualities, the scholarship exam, and the personal interview.

Students who qualify for Seton's Scholar Program AND demonstrate financial need (based on the Archdiocesan Aid Application) will also be considered for the Gemmell Scholarship, an academic and need-based scholarship renewable each year.

Capital Partners for Education (CPE)
CPE provides low income students with high school scholarships, mentoring, and academic support.  Applications for CPE are due in February or March of 2010.  Visit www.cpfe.org or call (202)682-6020 x225 for an application or additional information about the CPE program.

The Washington Scholarship Fund
The Washington Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization committed to expanding and improving educational options in Washington, D.C. by enabling low-income families within the District to have a choice in where they send their children to elementary, middle, and high school.  Please visit www.washingtonscholarshipfund.org or call 202-222-0535 for an application or additional information.

Latino Student Fund
Elizabeth Seton High School is affiliated with the Latino Student Fund, an organization that provides financial assistance to Latino students attending area schools. For more information about applying to the Latino Student Fund, please visit www.latinostudentfund.org.

AchieverLoan & SallieMae Programs
Key Education Resources offers a low cost, flexible way to finance independent school costs. The AchieverLoan is a personal, unsecured loan designed exclusively for education expenses. SLM Financial Corporation, a SallieMae company, offers a similar loan program.  Families must apply and be approved for these loans through the companies themselves.
