What is it?
Spiritually oriented service
of those who suffer poverty
named after St. Vincent de Paul.
Who is
St. Vincent de Paul?
St. Vincent de Paul lived in the 1600’s a century of wars, famine and disease. He saw the suffering of the people and the children.
His guiding spirit can be captured in these words:
“May our presence and care to those most in need
reflect the gentleness, esteem, and dignity
we see reflected in the life and work of Jesus.”
“Accustom yourselves
to see God in the needy,
and to serve them in God
and for His love…”
.
What is poverty?
“Poverty is embarrassing;
it is humiliating.
It is the sense of having to depend on others,
being treated with rudeness and insults
because we have to seek help.”
